Preface

Our local community, where we live when we’re not at work or commuting to or from work, offers a perspective as to what I mean by ’Tyranny of Scale.” For most of us here in the United States, and most other places in the developed world, our local community may have parks, lakes, and tracts of undeveloped land, but everything else is bought and brought in from somewhere else. By everything else, I mean cars, houses, malls, boats, roads, gas, clothing, food, electricity, and other products that the local economy is built on top of.
